This week’s Writer Wednesday is Jennifer Oprisiu of St. Claire Shores.

Jennifer is the founder of JO Consulting Group, where she helps nonprofits and socially responsible organizations grow their impact through fundraising strategy, grant writing and development planning. With over 15 years of experience in nonprofit development, Jennifer has increased organizational revenue, built development systems from the ground up and secured funding for mission-driven organizations across Michigan and beyond.

What writing projects are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on national monument and public land conservation grants with HECHO (Hispanics Enjoying, Camping, Hunting, and the Outdoors).

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

The creative process of combining facts with storytelling. 

What does your writing workspace look like?

EVERYWHERE that inspires me; this looks like me in the corner of an airport, typing on my phone; my office with art and memories around me; or simply in the living room while my kids play.  

When did you first discover your love for writing? Were there any key moments or influences that sparked your passion?

I was in elementary school when I discovered my love for books, and in middle school, I started writing poetry and short stories. 

What is your favorite non-writing hobby?

35mm black and white photography.

What is your favorite piece of writing advice?

When you’re not inspired to write, write about something that inspires you.
